Senior Health and Safety Manager

Location: Wakefield or Durham (Hybrid role with site travel)

Salary: Circa £75,000 + Car Allowance or Car + Bonus

Irwin and Colton have been engaged to recruit a Senior HSE Manager for a leading Principal Contractor, delivering major construction, logistics, residential, industrial and defence projects across the region. With a strong pipeline and a growing regional presence, this is a key leadership role within the team.

The position is ideal for an experienced HSE professional who can lead regionally, work as part of the senior leadership team, and drive best practice across multiple live schemes.

Responsibilities
  • Leading, advising and coaching contractors to ensure they can achieve the efficient and effective delivery of the health and safety strategy
  • Conducting incident investigations to identify the root cause and make recommendations to prevent recurrence
  • Auditing and reporting on health and safety performance
  • Constantly assessing opportunities for health and safety improvements and sharing best practice across the organisation
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within construction or civil engineering or a related industry
  • Hold NEBOSH General or Construction (NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent desirable)
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to work well with a wide range of people
  • Drive and enthusiasm with the ability to promote a positive Health and Safety culture
