Job summary

A prominent arts organization is seeking a proactive Health and Safety Manager to ensure public and workforce safety in a fast-paced environment. You will lead the safety initiatives and manage risks, while mentoring the H&S Advisor. Ideal candidates will have a NEBOSH Certificate and experience in public events or similar sectors. This is an on-site role in Central London.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience at the level of Health and Safety management.
  • Experience in public facing environments such as Events, Production, Broadcasting.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of the public, workforce, and production.
  • Lead and guide the team, acting as a subject matter expert.
  • Manage capex projects and current equipment upgrades.

Role: Health and Safety Manager
Location: Central London, an on-site role
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum + package (depending on experience)
Report to: Chief Operating Officer

Seeking a forward thinking, proactive, experienced Health and Safety professional to come and support a fast paced performing arts company, exposure to a variety of risks, specialist projects and experiences to ensure that the show must go on! Responsible for ensuring the safety of the public, workforce and production.

Overview
  • Seeking a forward thinking, proactive, experienced Health and Safety professional to come and support, they will have exposure to a variety of risks, specialist projects and experiences.
  • To be the subject matter expert for the company and responsible for ensuring the safety of the public, workforce and production at the highest standard. To lead, guide and advise the team. Visible and approachable professional, to be there as an escalation point
  • This role would suit a credible professional who has experience of engaging and educating stakeholders and driving accountability for safety down to the teams.
  • A visible leader, who can also roll up their sleeves and get stuck in when needed
  • Providing a collaborative approach, to educate and influence the teams and drive accountability downwards for H&S
  • This position comes with a direct report – H&S Advisor, who you will coach and mentor.
  • Support and proactively influence an already established H&S Culture
  • Educate Directors and stakeholders about risk and come up with creative and practicable solutions
  • Chair meetings and report to the committee
  • Ensure the organisation is future fit and managing current and upcoming risks
  • Manage capex projects, current and future equipment upgrades

  • A strong communicator able to build trusted relationships internally and externally. Able to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities utilising strong problem‑solving skills to identify issues and find effective solutions - thinking outside of the box.
Essential Qualifications/Experience
  • NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent such as IOSH level 3) with proven experience at this level. Ideally Diploma level qualified in H&S such as NEBOSH, NVQ Level 5/6, IOSH Level 6
  • Understanding and experience of public facing environments ideally Events, Production, Broadcasting, Charities, Retail, Exhibition Centres, Leisure sectors etc.
