Horsham

We are innovative
That’s why we need people like you to help us. People who enjoy finding new ways to solve problems and get things done.

We have a opportunity for a qualified Senior Health & Safety Advisor to join our team working with our client Southern Water.

The Role

We’re looking for someone who can inspire and support our busy operational teams to deliver their work safely and consistently, using “best in class” health and safety practices.

We’ll trust you to decide how best to achieve this — but we know you won’t be the type to stand on the sidelines with a clipboard. Instead, you’ll be out there engaging with teams, understanding the challenges they face, and finding practical, workable solutions.

Your inquisitive mindset and approachable style will help you deliver advice that motivates rather than mandates. You’ll also help shape communications that truly resonate — from in-person conversations to creative updates such as videos or podcasts.

If you thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment that spans multiple sites, here are some of the activities you’ll be involved with:

  • Managing and executing site inspections
  • Advising on and setting operational safety objectives
  • Supporting and undertaking accident and incident investigations
  • Contributing to new tenders and bids
  • Assessing external environments to ensure safe working conditions
  • Identifying gaps in the H&S management system and recommending improvements
  • Developing and implementing new initiatives, sharing best practice with colleagues
  • Communicating changes in legislation and advising on new working practices
  • Carrying out ABC tours (Attitude, Behaviour and Culture)
  • Actively encouraging Safety Observations and Hazard Reporting

We’d love to hear from you if…

You have strong communication skills, creativity, and solid Health & Safety expertise — all essential for success in this role. We’re looking for someone who can take an innovative and practical approach to H&S problem-solving, backed by at least five years’ experience in an advisory capacity and a thorough understanding of current HSE legislation.

You should hold a NEBOSH Construction Certificate or an equivalent qualification (such as an HNC in Construction) as a minimum, along with Tech IOSH membership and be working towards Grad IOSH or equivalent. Previous experience within the utilities or construction industry would be highly advantageous.
