Job summary

Mactech Inspection Ltd is seeking a highly experienced Head of Health & Safety/Construction to lead safety across a major UK infrastructure programme in the nuclear/energy sector. The role requires senior leadership, strong regulatory liaison, and a proven track record in regulated environments.

You will oversee H&S across the site, manage budgets and teams, and drive a world-class safety culture with strict compliance to CDM and nuclear safety standards.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading health and safety across large, complex projects.
• Proven track record with regulators and external stakeholders.
• Degree in Science, Engineering or Construction; NEBOSH Diploma; IOSH Chartered membership.

Responsibilities

• Lead H&S activities to ensure compliance with standards and principal contractor requirements.
• Establish and continuously improve H&S policies aligned with risk profiles and best practice.
• Oversee H&S across construction site, supply chain, and contractor onboarding; ensure regulatory adherence.
• Support development of a safety culture aligned with nuclear standards and licensing.
• Manage departmental budgets, resources and staff development to meet project goals.
• Collaborate with senior management on site strategies, policies and procedures.
• Drive continuous improvement and report progress and performance metrics.
• Support emergency schemes and ensure effective application of lessons learned from experience.
• Manage Occupational Health, Hygiene and Construction Safety teams and their development.
