Job summary

Circle Health Group is seeking a Senior Healthcare Assistant to join the Bank staff in the Ward at Sarum Road Hospital, Winchester. The role supports the nursing team with patient care, including hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and observations, on an as-needed basis.

You'll work flexibly across shifts to cover busy periods, learn through competency-based training, and contribute to high standards of patient care across surgical units such as orthopaedics and gynaecology.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification/experience).
• Experience working as a Healthcare Assistant in a hospital or clinical setting.
• Ability to carry out delegated clinical tasks safely and confidently.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to support and supervise junior staff members.

Responsibilities

• Deliver person-centred care including assisting with personal hygiene, nutrition, mobility, toileting, and emotional support.
• Carry out basic clinical tasks such as monitoring vital signs, blood glucose levels, and patient observations (following training and competency).
• Assist with clinical procedures and the preparation of equipment and materials.
• Report any changes in a patient’s condition to the nursing team promptly.
• Act as a role model and mentor to junior healthcare assistants, supporting their development and integration into the team.
• Help coordinate the daily allocation of tasks, ensuring care is prioritised appropriately.
