Job summary

Hiscox is seeking a Senior Group Accountant to lead group consolidation and financial reporting. You will work with the Group Financial Controller and Finance Directors across the business units to ensure IFRS and Solvency II compliance.

This role focuses on consolidations, internal controls, process improvements and stakeholder management, with flexible working options. You will report to the Head of Group Financial Reporting and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the financial control

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA).
• Strong technical and financial reporting knowledge in financial services (insurance preferred).
• Ability to challenge and analyse results.
• Hands-on approach with keen eye for detail.
• Good problem solving skills.
• Understanding of group consolidation principles and reporting systems (Oracle preferred).
• Strong control mindset and experience.
• Experience delivering change and continual improvement.

Responsibilities

• Produce and present high-quality group consolidated monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to internal and external stakeholders in compliance with IFRS and Solvency II.
• Maintain and enhance the group financial control environment and consolidation framework.
• Proactively manage internal and external stakeholder relationships.
• Streamline and automate finance processes leveraging technology and best practice.
• Support Head of Group Financial Reporting in developing a continuous improvement culture.
• Support and drive finance group projects relevant to the role.
• Promote excellence across the wider Financial Control team.

You will focus on servicing the Group level financial reporting requirements and form close working relationships with the wider Finance team, as well as the Finance Directors and Controllers across the Hiscox business units.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce and present high-quality Group consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual financial, statutory and regulatory reporting deliverables to both internal and external stakeholders in compliance with IFRS and Solvency II regulatory guidance.
• Maintain and enhance the financial control environment with regards to Group consolidation reporting activities and the broader financial control framework.
• Proactively manage strong internal and external stakeholder relationships
• Streamline, automate and enhance finance processes, by leveraging technology enablers, personal experience, external insights and best practice.
• Champion and support Head of Group Financial Reporting in developing a continuous improvement culture utilising external insights and best practice.
• Actively support both Finance and Group-wide projects relevant to the role
• Support and drive a culture of excellence across the wider Financial Control team

Skills/ Qualifications/ Experience require:

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA)
• Good technical and financial reporting knowledge within the financial services sector (preferably the insurance sector)
• Ability to constructively challenge and analyse results
• Hands on approach and a keen eye for detail
• Good problem solving skills
• Good understanding of group consolidation principles and financial reporting systems (preferably Oracle)

• Experience of delivering change and continuously improving

Reporting Relationships/ Interactions:

• Reports to the Head of Group Financial Reporting
• Maintain constructive and supportive professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders including the Finance Senior Leadership team, our Regulators and external Auditors
