Job summary

Spencer Rose Ltd is seeking a Senior Golang Engineer to join a Tier-1 banking client, delivering secure, scalable backend services for high‑scale mobile applications. This hands-on role focuses on Go, APIs, and cloud-native DevOps practices.

The position is hybrid in Bristol, 2 days onsite, 6-12 months with potential extension, INSIDE IR35 rate. You will collaborate across engineering to design robust back-end components, optimise performance and ensure security.

Qualifications

• Extensive commercial experience building secure, scalable Go applications.
• Strong experience with REST APIs, microservices and containerised environments.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• DevOps practices including CI/CD, infrastructure automation and deployment strategies.
• Experience with cloud platforms and agile software development.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop secure, scalable Go applications and REST APIs.
• Build and maintain microservices and containerised workloads.
• Work with Docker and Kubernetes for deployment and operations.
• Implement CI/CD and infrastructure automation in DevOps pipelines.
• Design backend services to meet demanding performance and non‑functional requirements.
• Tune performance and optimise backend systems for reliability.
• Collaborate with engineers and contribute to coding standards and Agile practices.
