Job summary

Helsing is actively seeking an experienced engineer to lead end-to-end development of state estimation, navigation and guidance for UAS platforms. You will work in a cross-disciplinary team with field engineers to elevate performance while balancing safety, ethics, and geopolitical considerations.

The role demands deep expertise in control theory, aerodynamics, sensor fusion and software engineering, with a track record of delivering robust algorithms in contested environments.

Qualifications

• MSc/PhD in Aeronautical/Mechanical/Robotics or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in navigation, guidance or state estimation development.
• Strong Matlab/Simulink skills.
• Solid background in state estimation theory, aerodynamics, stability and control, and systems modelling.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.
• Solid software engineering skills: Matlab/Python/Rust/Java/C++.
• Interest in current research and reimplementing papers on state of the art navigation and guidance algorithms.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end development of bespoke UAS controllers.
• Design and test state estimator algorithms for contested environments.
• Simulate navigation and guidance to inform sensor stacks.
• Analyze real sensor/test data to calibrate sensors and validate performance.
• Support tests for navigation and guidance evaluation.
• Collaborate with Flight Mechanics, Aerodynamics, Embedded HW/SW, Testing.
• Contribute to flight tests.
