Job summary

Arcadis UK Environmental Sector is seeking a Senior GIS Consultant to join the Geospatial, Data and Visualisation team. You will deliver geospatial intelligence, data analysis, and map production for diverse projects, with emphasis on environmental aspects and large infrastructure studies.

You will lead GIS tasks, develop web GIS apps and dashboards, support business development, and mentor junior team members while promoting best-practice in data management and cartography.

Qualifications

  • Advanced use of ArcGIS Pro for data management, analysis and map production.
  • Experience delivering GIS consultancy within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Experience developing web mapping apps, dashboards and data collection solutions.
  • Experience with environmental or planning datasets and data standards.
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise / ArcGIS Online.
  • Experience with mobile apps like ESRI Field Maps, Survey123 or QField.
  • Desirable: Biodiversity Net Gain metrics.
  • Desirable: ESRI Model Builder or FME.
  • Desirable: Automation workflows using Python and ArcPy.
  • Desirable: Remote Sensing/Earth Observation techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as a trusted advisor on geospatial technologies and techniques.
  • Managing the delivery of GIS tasks including map production and spatial analysis.
  • Data management including digital capture, analysis and validation.
  • Designing and building web GIS applications, dashboards, and other digital products.
  • Supporting business development, bid preparation and client relations.
  • Applying GIS best practice and professional standards.
  • Identifying innovative GIS/data science applications to improve outputs.
  • Providing leadership and technical advice to junior team members.
  • Maintaining high-quality cartographic and visualization standards.

Role description:

Arcadis are currently looking to recruit a Senior GIS Consultant to join the Geospatial, Data and Visualisation team in our UK Environmental Sector. You will take on a key role within the team, providing mapping support, geospatial intelligence, and data analysis.

You will provide geospatial expertise to a range of projects for both internal and external clients. Working on a variety of projects with a focus on environmental aspects, including large infrastructure studies, you will develop processes and tools which support data driven decision making. You will need to establish strong relationships with internal project managers and technical leads in the wider Business Sectors. Identification and development of internal & external geospatial business opportunities will also be expected.

Role accountabilities:
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to colleagues and clients on the application of geospatial technologies and techniques
  • Managing the delivery of GIS tasks, including map production and spatial analysis, ensuring quality and compliance with project requirements
  • Data management, including digital data capture, analysis, and validation
  • Designing and building web GIS applications, dashboards, and other digital products
  • Supporting business development, bid preparation, and client relationship management
  • Applying and promoting GIS and data management best practice, quality assurance, and professional standards
  • Identifying innovative applications of GIS, data science, AI, and automation to improve processes and outputs
  • Providing leadership and technical advice to junior project team members
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to detail, with a particular focus on professional cartographic and visualisation standards
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Advanced use of ArcGIS Pro for data management, analysis and map production
  • Demonstrable experience delivering GIS consultancy services within multidisciplinary project teams, including ecologists, environmental planners and designers
  • Experience developing and configuring web mapping applications, dashboards and data collection solutions
  • Experience working with environmental, ecological or planning datasets and associated data standards
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise (Server, ArcSDE, Portal for ArcGIS, Datastore) and/or ArcGIS Online
  • Experience in mobile applications such as ESRI Field Maps, Survey 123 or QField
  • Desirable: Experience of creating processes for calculation of environmental metrics (e.g. Biodiversity Net Gain)
  • Desirable: Experience with ESRI Model Builder or FME
  • Desirable: Experience developing automation workflows using Python and ArcPy
  • Desirable: Experience of Remote Sensing/Earth Observation techniques
