Job summary

Advance TRS is recruiting an experienced Geotechnical / Ground Investigation Engineer to support major construction and urban regeneration projects across the North East, based mainly in Newcastle. The role involves brownfield site investigations, GI management and site-based supervision with roughly 80% on site and 20% in the office.

You will plan, supervise and review ground investigation works, including drilling, logging and reporting, ensuring compliance with BS 5930 and related standards

Qualifications

• Strong background in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Experience in borehole and drilling supervision.
• Experience in brownfield or contaminated land investigations.
• Experience in trial pitting and window sampling.
• Experience in soil and rock logging.
• Experience in groundwater and ground gas monitoring.
• Experience in managing GI contractors and specialist subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Planning and managing ground investigations across construction and brownfield sites.
• Supervising drilling, boreholes, trial pitting, window sampling and in-situ testing.
• Logging soil and rock in accordance with BS 5930.
• Carrying out groundwater, ground gas and surface water monitoring.
• Managing GI subcontractors and laboratories.
• Reviewing RAMS, method statements, permits and technical documentation.
• Producing and reviewing factual Ground Investigation Reports (GIRs).
• Ensuring works comply with H&S legislation, BS 5930, BS 10175 and relevant industry standards.
• Providing technical support and site-based engineering input throughout the investigation and construction process.

Advance TRS are recruiting for an experienced Geotechnical / Ground Investigation Engineer to support major construction and urban regeneration projects across the North East.

The role will focus on brownfield site investigations, ground investigation management and site-based supervision, working across a range of construction projects.

The Role

You will be responsible for planning, managing and supervising ground investigation works, including drilling and associated site investigations.

• Planning and managing ground investigations across construction and brownfield sites.
• Supervising drilling, boreholes, trial pitting, window sampling and in-situ testing.
• Logging soil and rock in accordance with BS 5930.
• Carrying out groundwater, ground gas and surface water monitoring.
• Managing specialist GI subcontractors and laboratories.
• Reviewing RAMS, method statements, permits and technical documentation.
• Producing and reviewing factual Ground Investigation Reports (GIRs).
