Job summary

Sandberg is seeking a Senior Geomaterials Scientist to lead petrographic investigations of concrete, mortar, masonry and other construction materials in our London laboratory, with site-based work across the UK and occasional international assignments.

You will provide technical leadership, interpret SEM/EDX and XRD data, design and manage testing programmes, and mentor junior staff while delivering high-quality reports to clients.

Qualifications

• Degree in Geology, Materials Science or related discipline.
• Advanced petrography skills with microscopy of construction materials.
• Strong report-writing and client-communication skills.
• Experience managing projects and collaborating with clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead petrographic analysis of concrete, mortar, render and adhesives.
• Interpret SEM/EDX and XRD data for material characterization.
• Design, manage and oversee laboratory testing programmes.
• Lead and support laboratory and site-based investigations.
• Manage client relationships and oversee project delivery.
• Prepare high-quality technical reports for clients.
• Mentor and train junior staff.
• Contribute to Sandberg's technical capabilities and reputation.
