Job summary

TipTopJob is seeking a Senior Geo:Environmental Consultant in Manchester. The role focuses on managing complex geo-environmental and contaminated land projects across the UK, providing technical guidance to clients and junior team members.

The candidate will lead intrusive site investigations, interpret environmental data, and contribute to Phase 1/Phase 2 reports, with a strong emphasis on professional development and career progression within a forward-thinking consultancy.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Senior Geo:Environmental Consultant or similar role.
• Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of UK contaminated land legislation and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience managing site investigations and risk assessments.
• Excellent report writing and interpretation skills.
• Strong project management and client-facing experience.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Valid UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Managing and delivering geo-environmental and contaminated land projects from inception to completion.
• Planning, supervising, and coordinating intrusive site investigations.
• Undertaking contaminated land risk assessments and remediation strategies.
• Interpreting geological, geotechnical, and environmental data.
• Preparing Phase 1 Desk Studies, Phase 2 Site Investigation Reports, and technical interpretative reports.
• Liaising with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Mentoring and supporting junior consultants and engineers.
• Managing project budgets, programmes, and resource allocation.
• Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and health and safety standards.
• Supporting business development activities and client relationship management.

• Proven experience working as a Senior Geo:Environmental Consultant or in a similar geo:environmental role
• Degree qualified in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering Geology, Geo:Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
• Strong understanding of contaminated land legislation and UK regulatory frameworks
• Experience managing site investigations and contaminated land risk assessments
• Excellent report writing and technical interpretation skills
• Strong project management and client:facing experience
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Full UK driving licence
• Right to work in the UK
