Job summary

The Belfry is seeking a Senior Greenkeeper (Level 3) to assist the Deputy Head Greenkeeper with daily maintenance of our world-class golf courses. You will supervise staff, manage course set-up, and oversee spraying and fertilisation while upholding the resort’s exacting standards.

With a history of hosting major events and a strong focus on safety and sustainability, this role offers an opportunity to contribute to a respected team at The Belfry.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 2 (or equivalent) qualification is required.
• Machinery training and IPM knowledge are essential.
• Proven supervisory experience in a similar greenkeeping role.
• Chemical fertiliser knowledge is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily golf course set‑up to maintenance standards.
• Apply fertilisers and chemicals where needed.
• Conduct spot checks of tees, greens, fairways, and hazards.
• Supervise maintenance teams and mowing of greens and fairways.
• Help plan weekly schedules and stock checks.
• Support the Head Greenkeeper in supervising programmes.
• Carry out other duties as required.

GREENKEEPING

The Greenkeeping team ensures the world class maintenance of our golf courses andestate, meeting the high expectations of our golfers. The Gardening teammeticulously tends to the resort's landscape, creating beautiful surroundings.Mechanics specialise in maintaining our machinery, vital for our world-classcourses. With a rich history hosting prestigious events like the Ryder Cup andBritish Masters, The Belfry is committed to providing an exceptional golfingexperience.

The annual salary forthis role is £27,708.00, plus service charges.

About the role

This role is a senior (level 3) position within ourGreenkeeping team and will involve assisting the Deputy Head Greenkeeper inoverseeing the daily maintenance of the golf courses i.e. course set up,current work programmes, supervise staff and spraying and fertilisation. Keyresponsibilities include:

• Assisting in the golf courses set-up each morningin line with golf course maintenance standards.
• Application of fertilisers and chemicals to thegolf course where necessary.
• To undertake spot checks of the golf coursesincluding; tees, fairways, rough, approaches, greens, pitch-marking and holes.
• To ensure that golf course standards are adhered toby the teams.
• Supervising the golf course maintenance teams.
• To undertake the mowing of greens, fairways andtees.
• Assist the planning each week: cutting schedules,bunker maintenance, hole changing, stock check, i.e. flagpoles, bins, ballwashers and towels. General course maintenance.
• Assist the Head Greenkeeper in supervising any workprogrammes in place.
• Carry out other duties that maybe necessary fromtime to time.

About You

Our Greenkeeping team is a group of friendly andhardworking individuals with a passion for what they do and an ability to workindividually and as a team. We are looking for someone who will fit in with theculture. In addition, you would need to have:

• NVQ level 2 (or equivalent) qualifications
• Relevant machinery training
• Knowledge of IPM
• Proven experience in a supervisory role
• Chemical Biology and Fertiliser Knowledge
