Job summary

Gen II (UK) Southampton is seeking a Fund Accountant to deliver annual and quarterly financial statements for PE funds, under major GAAP frameworks. The role includes reviewing entries, preparing NAV packs, and liaising with auditors, with oversight of junior staff.

You will work in a hybrid Southampton office, applying ISAE 3402 controls while supporting client accounting processes and ad hoc projects.

Qualifications

• Actively studying towards ACCA/ACA or equivalent; full qualification preferred but not required.
• 2–3 years accounting experience, financial services preferred but not essential.
• Experience producing statements to UK GAAP, US GAAP or IFRS.
• Experience coaching others one-to-one.
• Competent Microsoft Excel user.

Responsibilities

• Prepare annual financial statements for PE fund and related entities under major GAAP.
• Prepare quarterly fund financial statements and investor capital statements.
• Review journal entries and maintain general ledgers.
• Compile and review NAV packs and working papers.
• Liaise with auditors for client entity audits.
• Ensure statements meet deadlines and sign-off requirements.
• Attend client meetings on accounting matters as required.
• Identify complex accounting issues and assist resolution.
• Prepare drawdown, equalisation and distribution files.
• Analyse transaction documentation and fund fee computations.
• Oversee junior accountants and trainees; enforce ISAE 3402 controls.
• Develop and enhance team procedures; assist client processes.
• Liaise with external contacts to obtain required information.
• Contribute to ad hoc projects as required.

To deliver the financial reporting requirements for a high profile, complex private equity client, which may include a range of fund structures.

Whatyou’llbe doing

Preparation of annualfinancial statementsfor PE fund and related entities in major GAAP (IFRS, US GAAP, UK GAAP)

• Preparation of quarterly fund financial statements, investors capital account statements and other financial reports
• Review of journal entries prepared by fund accountantsand maintenance of general ledgers
• Compile & review a full file of working papers/NAV Packsfor all financial statements prepared
• Liaise with auditors in respect of the financial audit of client entities asrequired
• Ensure that financial statements prepared are completed and signed off within client, statutory or regulatory deadlines
• Attend client meetings in respect of accounting matters asrequired
• Identification of complex and significant accounting technicalissues, ifany
• Assistin resolution of any accounting issues with Managers and Directors
• Prepare drawdown,equalisationand distribution files
• Analyse and interpret transaction documentation
• Preparation and maintenance of fund fee computations (e.g. management fees, carried interest, etc.)in accordance withLimited Partnership Agreements and other source legal documentation
• Oversightand supervisionof more junior accountants and trainees
• Ensure team adherence to internal company proceduresincluding ISAE 3402 control environment
• Development/enhancement of team specific procedures
• Assistwith the creation and maintenance of client specific accountingprocesses andprocedures
• Liaise with external contacts to obtain and provide required information
• Assistwith and contribute to ad hoc projects asrequired

The ideal background for this role:

• At least actively studying towards a recognised accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA or equivalent), fully qualified accountant is preferrable but notrequired
• At least 2to 3yearsaccounting experiencepreferably in financial services industry but notrequired
• Experience in producing financial statements to UK GAAP, USGAAPor IFRS
• Experience of developing and coaching others on a one-to-one basis
• Competent user of Microsoft Excel

Role Location/Hybrid Schedule

This roleis based in ourSouthamptonoffice.Although the nature of most of the roles within Gen II cannot be classed astotally flexible, there is scope in some cases for a form of Agile Working. Thedifferent waysin which Agile Working can be undertakenisdependent on the demands and needs of the business, the office space available and the individual’s preferences and circumstances.
