Hook is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (backend-focused) to work across the stack, building features for customers and shaping our platform. You will collaborate with product managers and designers to deliver robust software.

You will write Python across the backend and React on the frontend, design scalable APIs, own key architectural areas and mentor teammates while improving engineering practices. Hybrid work with a Liverpool Street office.

Qualifications

• Experience building production software across both frontend and backend technologies (backend-focused).
• Strong experience with Python and frameworks such as FastAPI, Django or Flask.
• Experience designing, building and operating software in production environments.
• Experience working with APIs and integrating third-party services.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
• A pragmatic approach to problem-solving and a passion for writing high-quality software.

Responsabilités

• Design and deliver customer-facing features with product managers and designers.
• Build clean, well-tested software across Python backend and React frontend.
• Own significant areas of architecture and drive technical improvements.
• Design scalable APIs, services and data models.
• Review code and mentor other engineers with constructive feedback.
• Improve engineering practices, tooling and workflows.
• Monitor and improve production performance and reliability.
• Integrate with third-party platforms to extend product capabilities.
