Job summary

AutoTrader UK in Manchester is hiring Senior Full Stack Engineers to join our hybrid Connected Working team. You will work across millions of requests daily, building scalable systems with Java/Kotlin, React/Angular, and Kafka.

We value mentoring, code reviews, and delivering high-quality solutions at scale. Our role includes regular pair programming and a commitment to continuous delivery, with a hybrid model requiring three days in the office and remote periods in summer and winter.

Qualifications

• Senior full stack engineers with strong experience in Java or Kotlin.
• Experience architecting and designing complex distributed systems.
• Front-end: React or Angular, TypeScript and modern JavaScript.
• Proficiency in building RESTful APIs and web services.
• Knowledge of relational databases (SQL) and document storage like MongoDB.
• Structured approach to development and testing, including Test-Driven Development, with focus on continuous delivery and automation.
• Proven experience leading and mentoring teams.
• Experience with data at scale or AI/ML frameworks is a plus.
• Knowledge of Kafka or other event-driven architectures is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Build and deliver systems handling millions of requests daily across 600+ systems.
• Use React/Angular on the front end and Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka on the back end.
• Contribute to the cloud delivery platform with more than 60,000 production releases each year.
• Collaborate through regular pair programming, code reviews, and stand-ups.
• Mentor team members and help teams deliver high-quality solutions at scale.
• Participate in the application process answering questions about company values.
