Job summary

First 2 Recruit Ltd is seeking a Lead Firmware Engineer to take technical ownership of embedded software across a range of electronic products. This site-based Wiltshire role is hands-on and leadership-focused, with responsibilities spanning architecture, development, integration and testing.

You will lead firmware development for ARM STM32 devices, drive software architecture decisions and mentor teammates within a multidisciplinary product development team.

Qualifications

• Substantial commercial experience developing embedded firmware in C and C++.
• Experience with ARM-based microcontrollers, ideally STM32.
• Familiarity with STM32Cube or comparable environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and integration of embedded firmware and GUIs.
• Develop and maintain firmware for ARM-based MCUs (STM32).
• Define software architecture and integrate firmware with hardware and UI.
• Develop software for device control, data processing, communications and system functionality.
• Design and integrate GUIs including display and touchscreen functionality.
• Manage software requirements, documentation, verification and releases.
• Develop, test and debug embedded software using appropriate techniques.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams during product development and testing.
• Support prototype development, production introduction and product improvements.
• Promote best practices and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to colleagues.
