Job summary

1st Select seeks a Senior Fire Engineer (Chartered) to lead external wall and façade projects in the UK, signing off façades and applying PAS 9980/Building Safety Act guidance to keep residents safe. The role offers strong remote work with occasional site visits and a top-tier package.

You will mentor junior engineers, drive delivery on multi-storey schemes, and support client inquiries with technical credibility while pursuing chartership.

Qualifications

• Incorporated/Chartered engineer status in fire safety (IEng/CEng).
• 6+ years in fire engineering consulting or design with façades.
• Deep knowledge of UK codes and PAS 9980 methodology.
• Experience with EWS1 certification and Option B outcomes.
• Ability to prepare complex external wall reports for sign-off.

Responsibilities

• Lead FRAEWs and EWS1 assessments on residential/mixed-use buildings.
• Review façade designs and coordinate fire strategies early in design.
• Sign off façade/cladding work for tall buildings and determine EWS1 outcomes.
• Drive project delivery, manage budgets/utilisation, and mentor juniors.
• Support sales inquiries with technical credibility.
