Job summary

HM Treasury is seeking a senior policy professional to lead complex financial services policy across multiple portfolios. You will guide long-term strategy, build evidence-based proposals, and coordinate reforms from policy design through to implementation and evaluation.

You will provide clear advice to ministers and senior officials, develop strategic cross-government relationships, and lead a team focused on delivering high-impact policy in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Guide the Government’s long-term strategy across your portfolio, ensuring policy is grounded in evidence and adaptive to developments.
• Build policy proposals, resolve complex challenges, and assess impacts, trade-offs, and implementation considerations.
• Coordinate the delivery of reforms, programmes or legislation from approval through implementation and evaluation, with governance and risk management.
• Provide clear, high-quality written and verbal advice to ministers, special advisers, and senior officials on complex issues.
• Develop impactful connections across government, regulators, industry, consumer groups and international partners.
• Lead and develop team members, cultivating an inclusive environment that promotes high performance.
• Work in a fast-paced environment with ministers and senior leaders to achieve the Government’s goals for a competitive and well-regulated financial services sector.
