Job summary

Tide is seeking a Senior Financial Controller to lead the controllership of our credit products and oversee month-end reporting for multiple Tide entities. You will own P&L, balance sheet and cash flow processes, ensuring accurate provisioning and regulatory compliance.

You will work with product, operations and risk teams to monitor credit performance, refine provisioning methods and manage cost of risk. A strong finance background and UK GAAP/IFRS expertise are essential.

• Experience in financial services, preferably tech-driven & scale-up environments.
• Experience with credit products and provisioning for credit risk.
• Strong financial acumen and accounting skills under UK GAAP/IFRS.
• Experience with statutory audits of financial services firms.
• Hold a professional finance qualification.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Controllership of proprietary credit offerings across multiple Tide entities.
• Own month-end reporting for P&L, balance sheet and cash flow.
• Document and review loss provisioning policies for credit risk and fraud.

ABOUT THE TEAM:

The Financial Reporting & Control team is responsible for the preparation of Tide’s key financial reports, as well as implementing and monitoring controls to safeguard the Group’s financial integrity. The team plays a critical role in ensuring the financial data is accurate and complete, compliant with regulations and presented clearly to internal and external stakeholders.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As our Senior Financial Controller you’ll report to the Lead Financial Controller and be responsible for our credit products and areas of credit risk at Tide. It’s exciting times here at Tide, we are scaling and developing our product offering at a phenomenal rate!

As Senior Financial Controller you will

• Controllership of our proprietary credit offerings over our 3 Tide Capital companies with varying credit products.
• Ownership of the month end processes for reporting P&L, balance sheet and cashflow
• Documenting and reviewing loss provisioning policies for credit risk, fraud and disputes, negative balances and other risk costs. Ongoing monitoring and reporting of credit risk performance and adequacy of provisioning coefficients and methods.
• Ensuring strong control of the new APPF fraud legislation, including accurate representation of losses from fraudulent transactions in the P&L and ensuring monthly balance sheet substantiation
• Ensuring strong control over our members accounts with negative (overdrawn) account balances, accurately reporting our P&L each month and ensuring monthly balance sheet substantiation
• Working closely with the Tide Credit Services business, product and operations teams to understand the performance of our products and ensure that our transactions are correctly recorded
• Handling the introduction of new credit lending products along with our new investment product.
• Working closely with the collections team for overdue loan payments, analyzing performance of recovery efforts.
• Collaborating with the ongoing monitoring, operations and risk teams to monitor and report cost of risk, resulting from the credit portfolio, negative customer account balances, fraud and disputes, chargebacks, etc.
• Working closely with the FP&A team to support with analysis, budgeting and forecasting of the credit portfolio and cost of risk.
• Represent the finance team at the Credit Risk Working Group and Risk and Compliance Committee.
• Building robust financial control processes and strengthening internal controls.
• Maintain strong balance sheet controls with monthly substantiation.
• Maintaining relationships with external auditors, tax advisors and accounting advisors.
• Collating financial data for the preparation of corporation tax ensuring compliance with tax legislation.
• Identifying opportunities to streamline and improve accounting processes, operations and systems.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience in financial services – preferably in technology-driven & scale-up environments
• Experience with credit products and provisioning for credit risk essential
• Strong financial acumen and excellent technical accounting skills. Familiar with accounting standard and disclosure requirements under UK GAAP and/or IFRS
• Dealt with the statutory audit of financial services company
• Hold a professional finance qualification
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
