Job summary

Dorset Police is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to provide essential support at Exeter. The role focuses on financial analysis, statutory accounts, and leading a team across the finance function.

The position is temporary (6 months), full-time, with hybrid working and an hourly rate of £27.05. Applicants must meet CCAB qualifications and have extensive post-qualification experience.

Qualifications

• Degree with CCAB membership (or equivalent) and extensive post-qualification experience.
• Ability to analyse and present complex financial data effectively.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence diverse audiences.
• Proven leadership capabilities with experience directing teams and managing performance.

Responsibilities

• Deliver senior-level financial insights to ensure regulatory compliance and production of unqualified annual accounts.
• Coordinate preparation of statutory accounts, including prime statements and Whole Government Accounts.
• Lead training sessions for the Finance Department to promote continuous improvement.
• Liaise with actuaries, valuers and external bodies to maintain valuations and key relationships.
• Support Head of Financial Accounting in developing strategies and robust processes.

What You'll Do:

• Manage Relationships: Liaise with actuaries, valuers, and external bodies to maintain accurate valuations and sustain key relationships.

Your Skills & Experience:
