Job summary

Tile Hill is recruiting an outstanding finance leader to Rochdale as Assistant Director of Finance and Deputy Section 151 Officer. You will report to the Director of Corporate Services and shape the Council's financial strategy, ensuring resources align with residents' priorities.

The role requires a fully qualified accountant with a track record in public service finance, political awareness and strong leadership across finance, revenues and benefits.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant with strong technical credibility and ability to translate complex financial issues into clear advice.
• Experience communicating with elected members or boards and working in a politically governed environment.
• Proven capability in leading finance, revenues and benefits teams and driving service improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Council's budget development, savings and income proposals and engage with elected members throughout the year.
• Provide financial leadership to Cabinet, Audit and Governance Committee, and Overview and Scrutiny Committee.
• Drive modernisation, data automation and improved analytical contribution from finance to the wider Council.
