Job description
What is the role?

The Senior Finance manager reports to the Financial Controller and leads the production of Selfridges' annual financial statements. The Senior Finance Manager has a team of two and is also responsible for fixed asset and occupancy accounting, controlling a number of key balance sheet accounts, and acting as a key point of contact with the Group's tax advisors.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the timely and accurate production of Selfridges' annual financial statements, including liaising closely with KPMG to coordinate the year-end external audit process.
  • Liaise with colleagues in the Group Tax team & Deloitte to support the calculation of Selfridges' Corporation Tax return.
  • Ensure that Selfridges' capital expenditure, depreciation, rent, rates and service charge costs are accurately recorded, reported and forecast.
  • Work with colleagues across Finance, IT, Loss Prevention, Internal Audit and other functions to ensure that the Company has a robust financial control framework, and act as a Subject Matter Expert on financial control and financial reporting.
  • Manage a Finance Manager and Finance Analyst.
  • Review and control a number of key balance sheet accounts, including intercompany, direct and indirect tax, fixed assets, occupancy, and reserves.
  • Be an active member of the finance team in the Leicester office; working on ad-hoc projects and pitching in, and helping out across the team as required.
Qualifications
  • Be an ACA qualified accountant with a background in external audit and experience of leading the financial accounting function of a sizeable business, with a strong control mindset and in-depth knowledge of IFRS, particularly IFRS 15 & 16.
  • Have strong analytical and Excel skills.
  • Experienced in working at a senior level in a large and complex business, skilled in relationship building and influencing at all levels.
  • Able to work under pressure and manage a diverse and competing workload ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Able to drive own initiatives through to completion.
  • Highly organised and efficient.
  • Flexible, positive, open to change and proactive.
