Job description

The Senior Finance Manager reports to the Vice President of Finance and will execute on the accounting operations of Tree House, from payroll and internal controls to financial reporting and budgeting. This role is suited for an individual who is motivated by automation that promotes high growth in fast changing environments, efficiency in administrative processes like AP/AR, payroll, and qualitative reporting for budgeting and planning.

Duties
  • Execute the monthly-close process, ensuring that every account and every supporting schedule on both our P&L and Balance sheet are fully up-to-date and reflective of our business results
  • Run weekly payroll and the quarterly bonus program:
    • Ensure accurate payment of multiple employment classifications—full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees—verifying timekeeping data, calculating wages, tips, deductions, and benefits, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and organizational policies
    • Respond to team member inquiries regarding paychecks as needed
  • Pay tax estimates and taxes to the governing authorities on time
  • Monitor cash, analyze changes weekly, and own cash management strategy to optimize yield and liquidity; keep eye on 90-120d cash projection
  • Support the preparation of regular finance, accounting, and analytics readouts to Core Team
  • Run weekly AP/AR process to pay bills strategically and collect amounts due
  • Submit annual filings (e.g. 1099s, and support compliance team in Fed / state filings)
  • Submit loan covenant documents to banks on time
  • Serve as day-to-day liaison for annual CPA Review, 401k Audit, and Tax engagement
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, encouraging continuous improvement within the finance team; survey, find, propose, and deploy new technologies for both the back office team and the company at-large
  • Upskill teammates, deliberately
  • Identify superfluous spend and champion internal controls
  • Exercise strict confidentiality in handling sensitive financial data and personnel information
  • Question all aspects of the business, conduct ad-hoc analyses to uncover new business insights, motivate new company KPIs with cross-departmental buy-in and help systemize any findings that can provide perpetual value to Tree House
  • In concert with Human Resources, develop policies and procedures to increase financial transparency and build accountability for stakeholders, with the goal of scaling the company thoughtfully and efficiently
  • Support the VP of Finance in any necessary efforts to further the department & Company at large
  • Help build and maintain Annual Operating Plan
Requirements
  • On-site, in Charlton, MA with occasional travel to other locations
  • 5+ years of experience in core finance / accounting function, with at least 2 years in a Senior Finance Manager or Senior Accounting role, ideally at scrappy, fast-moving manufacturing company
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Experience in Paylocity HRIS, specifically in the payroll processing function, strongly preferred
  • Expert in Excel and Quickbooks
  • Natural curiosity in the intersection of finance / accounting and analytics / data engineering / technology
  • Working knowledge of R and/or SQL a plus
  • Fluent in basic AI workflows and best practices
  • Beverage alcohol experience and familiarity with laws and regulations nice‑to‑have
  • Self‑motivated and flexible; a total warrior in a world of ambiguity who can quickly sort through high‑ and low‑priority opportunities, lines items up for attack, and makes material progress independently while constantly calibrating choices against the goals and objectives of the Company and soliciting feedback from the VP of Finance
  • Sets and manages expectations exceptionally well
  • Highly communicative and collaborative, and especially effective at simplifying concepts for non‑quantitative team members
  • Demonstrates an ability for self reflection and improvement
  • Collaborative with individuals at all levels of the organization

The starting base salary range for this position is $105,000-125,000 annually. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Base salary is only one component of the total compensation package, as this role is eligible for participation in the company growth bonus program and a robust benefit package.
