An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our award winning Finance Team. We are pleased to offer the opportunity for a Senior Finance Business Partner to join our Financial Management team. The role is to support the strategically significant programme to deploy a new Electronic Patient Record (EPR).

Based in the Finance Department within the hospital, the team work closely with operational colleagues to support robust financial management and ensures operational colleagues are able to manage their budgets effectively and confidently.

Working closely with the Assistant Director of Finance and EPR Programme Leadership Teams this is a role which is focused on delivering high quality financial, planning and reporting information.

The post holder will have a key role in ensuring the effective use of resources through providing high quality financial information, advice and support at a senior level. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual with a real commitment to excellent service delivery and great communication skills.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Supporting the Assistant Director of Finance by producing and presenting reports on financial plans and budgetary performance.
  • Ensuring all transactions are recorded and accounted for correctly to meet statutory obligations, inform decision making, and support internal and external monitoring.
  • Supporting the EPR Programme Senior Leadership teams to enable them to meet their financial targets and key commitments.
  • Planning the work of other members of the team.
  • Working to deadlines, planning time effectively, and ensuring processes and procedures are in place for use across the department. Communicating across all of the finance function and forming strong working relationships outside of own team.
  • Escalating areas of concern and deputising in the absence of the Assistant Director of Finance.
  • Working independently and providing a full range of expert financial advice to the management teams.
  • Being a key and integral part of the EPR programme decision making team, accountable alongside EPR programme leaders for financial performance.

Qualifications – Essential
  • CIMA/ACCA/CIPFA qualified with significant post qualification experience or proven NHS experience working in a similar role.
Experience – Essential
  • Ability to demonstrate detailed experience and expert knowledge of the key accounting areas, including the key procedures and policies, NHS financial legislation, key computer systems such as financial ledgers and providing specialist advice on a full range of financial issues including both revenue and capital.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with a computerised ledger and other financial systems with excellent IT skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of strategic and business planning processes.
  • Knowledge and experience of the NHS financial regime, Payment by Results/Aligned Incentive Contracts, NHS Data Definitions, costing techniques/health service reference costs and Private Patients.
  • High level numeric skills, competent in processing and interpreting data.
  • Ability to reconcile financial data and maintain appropriate documentation on file.
  • Ability to understand the need for consistency of both process and procedure within the finance function, and the need for continual review to ensure this is maintained. Knowledge of Performance Management Processes.
