Reed Talent Solutions are partnering with the Metropolitan Police Service to recruit 2 Senior Finance Business Partners on a permanent basis.

Founded by Sir Robert Peel in 1829, the Metropolitan Police Service is one of the oldest police services in the world. From the beginning, the purpose of the Met has been to serve and protect the people of London by providing a professional police service.

Today, the MPS is made up of more than 46,000 officers and staff, plus thousands of volunteers. The territory served covers 620 square miles and is home to over 9 million people.

Their management accounting and strategic finance teams are going through a large-scale transformation which has created an opportunity to join the UK’s largest Police force.

The role will be to provide expert financial insight, analysis and advisory services to senior leadership within assigned business groups, enabling evidence-based decision-making that supports financial sustainability, value for money, and the delivery of operational priorities.

You will influence financial strategy and operational delivery, embedding a culture of financial accountability across the organisation.

This role will be based in Queens Park (NW6) and will be hybrid working with 3 days on site per week.

Key Result Areas
  • Deliver high-quality financial insight, forecasting, scenario modelling and risk analysis to Budget Holders and operational leads, enabling informed decision-making that drives value for money and cost efficiencies within budgets valued up to £100m.
  • Interpret financial performance in partnership with Management Accounting and Reporting
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with business group leadership
  • Provide critical financial input to the development, appraisal, and monitoring of business cases, major projects and programmes
  • Support the formulation and delivery of group budgets and strategic financial plans
  • Collaborate closely with the Commercial function to provide financial analysis
  • Act as financial broker between Management Accounting and Reporting and the business
  • Engage directly with external stakeholders (e.g. MOPAC, Home Office
The ideal candidate
  • CCAB Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA, ACA or equivalent).
  • In-depth understanding of financial governance frameworks, commercial principles, risk management, and budgetary processes within large, complex organisations.
  • Advanced analytical and modelling capability to interpret complex financial data and translate into clear, actionable advice.
  • Highly developed communication skills to present financial information to non-finance audiences and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation and influencing skills with ability to constructively challenge.
  • Familiarity with the use of financial reporting systems, forecasting tools and business intelligence platforms to drive process improvements.
  • Significant experience of business partnering at senior levels in large-scale, complex environments.
The Package

Salary:The starting salary is £74,680, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.

Pension: Civil Service ALPHA (CARE) pension included (28.97% employer’s contribution)

Annual leave: 28 days + bank holidays (rising to 33 days after 5 years service)
