Job description

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

AI demand is outpacing today's computing and energy capacity. Meeting that demand is one of the great challenges of our time, and a trillion-dollar question. Flux believes the answer lies beyond silicon. Our OTPUs (optical accelerators) will offer breakthrough performance at a fraction of the energy cost, unlocking a path past the rapidly approaching physical limits of traditional chips.

This isn't incremental innovation - it's a paradigm shift.

The Role

We're looking for an ambitious Senior Finance Associate to join us at a critical stage of growth. As we enter a stage of scaling rapidly, you'll play a central role in keeping our financial systems tight, helping us move fast without breaking things. You'll be hands‑on with everything from FP&A to supplier contracts to investor reporting, collaborating closely with Operations, People, and Engineering. This role is based in our Kings Cross, London office and is 5‑days a week in the office.

Responsibilities
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow modelling.
  • Act as a trusted partner to teams across the business, owning purchasing workflows, spend management, and vendor onboarding.
  • Prepare high-quality materials for board meetings, investor updates, and financial reporting.
  • Support statutory and regulatory compliance in the UK and US, working with external accountants where needed.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automating wherever possible to help us scale.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives that improve financial visibility and operational efficiency (e.g. headcount reporting, capex tracking, cost optimisation).
Skills & Experience
  • 5 years of experience in a finance, accounting, or FP&A role.
  • Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills; confident building, debugging, and owning financial models.
  • Experience with Xero and tools like Pleo, Spendesk, Ramp, or similar.
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented; you spot errors before others do.
  • Proactive, pragmatic, and solutions-focused; you take initiative and make things better.
  • Great communicator and confident working with cross-functional teams.
Nice to have
  • Understanding of equity, cap tables, and fundraising processes.
  • Experience in a hardware company and fast-paced environment.
This is a rare opportunity for someone with the right mix of experience, ambition, and appetite for building.

But it's not for everyone. You will thrive here if you:

  • See the strategic advantage that working side‑by‑side in an office can bring. We're moving quickly, and tight feedback loops matter.
  • Are excited to set aside the playbook in favour of systems that actually fit our stage. You're not afraid to experiment, streamline, and question what's "standard".
  • Use ChatGPT multiple times a day. Whether it's drafting investor memos, cleaning up spreadsheets, or pressure-testing a model, you see AI as a force multiplier.
  • Champion transparency and believe finance shouldn't be a black box. You're excited to help others understand how our business runs and how their decisions impact the health of the business.
Compensation & Benefits
  • £94,000 - £132,000 annual salary, depending on experience, skills, and location.
  • Competitive stock options, you're not just part of the journey, you will own a piece of it.
  • Work from our HQ in King's Cross, right in the middle of London's buzzing AI scene.
  • Live within 45 minutes of the office? Perfect. Live within 20 minutes? We'll add an extra location bonus to your salary.
  • We offer visa sponsorship and full relocation support (UK and abroad), through a dedicated third‑party provider who are on hand to make your move to London as seamless as possible.
  • Full BUPA healthcare and dental cover, medical history disregarded.
  • High‑spec tech for everyone - M4 Macs as standard, M4 Pros for Engineers.
  • Sony noise‑cancelling headphones and ergonomic setups to keep you comfortable and focused.
  • Personal company card to spend on tools that help you do your job - like ChatGPT Pro or anything else that boosts your workflow.
  • Healthy, chef‑cooked dinners in the office every night, with something for every diet and tastebud.
  • Monthly off‑site team socials.
  • 25 days of paid holiday, plus all the UK bank holidays.
  • Access to our in‑house 3D printer for personal or work projects.
  • Cycle2work scheme.
  • Need a caffeine fix? We've got you covered with a tab at our favourite local coffee shop.
  • We offer a pension plan and salary sacrifice options.
We do not accept unsolicited CVs from recruitment agencies, will not be liable for any fees, and prohibit unauthorised use of our company name in recruitment activities. We're building fast and that includes our benefits. More exciting additions are coming soon. If you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of what's possible in AI and thrive in a high‑energy, fast‑paced environment, we want to hear from you.
