Job summary

Bio-Techne is seeking a Senior Field Application Specialist to bridge spatial biology tech with researchers, train scientists, troubleshoot challenges, and gather product feedback through extensive travel across markets.

You will hold a Master or PhD in biology or a related field, with hands-on experience in IHC, IF, ISH, multiomics, and microscopy, plus skills in image analysis and customer-facing support across diverse markets.

Qualifications

  • Master or PhD in Biology, Life Sciences, Bioengineering, Medicine or related field.
  • Hands-on experience in in-situ techniques (IHC, IF, ISH, multiomics, microscopy).
  • Experience with image analysis of spatial data is a plus.
  • Several years of experience supporting customers in highly technical fields.
  • Ability to write technical supporting documents.
  • Experience with CRM applications and maintenance.
  • Independent, confident, and creative in running experiments.
  • Strong customer service mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Train and support customers in operating setup, protocols, panels, and staining assays.
  • Attend conferences and meetings to present products with technical depth.
  • Investigate problems at customer sites and coordinate with support and R&D.
  • Provide scientific applications support in assay development and image analysis.
  • Collaborate with Sales to plan pre- and post-sales support.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers through visits/calls.

Pay Range

£44,600 - £71,480 Placement within the salary range will vary depending on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity considerations.

Location

EMEA, ideally based in the UK.

Travel requirement

80% of travel across the EMEA region mainly UK, Ireland. Depending on the location, an average of 3 overnights per week is to be expected.

Position Summary

Join our team as a Senior Field Application Specialist where you will be the vital link between cutting‑edge spatial biology technology and the scientists who use it. In this dynamic role, you'll combine your scientific expertise with customer‑facing skills to train researchers, troubleshoot complex technical challenges, and shape the future of our products through direct customer feedback. With extensive travel across diverse markets, you'll be instrumental in expanding the impact of innovative life science solutions worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Train and support customers in operating the setup, developing their protocols, panels and implementing staining assays properly.
  • Attend conferences, symposia and customer meetings and present the product and its applications with a scientific and technical depth.
  • Investigate problems at customer sites and resolve them in collaboration with the Technical Support Team, Service Engineers and where needed also with the help of the Product Management and R&D teams.
  • Provide scientific applications support in assay development and development of image analysis algorithms.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Sales team to plan and execute pre‑ and post‑sales support.
  • Develop and maintain a positive relationship with customers via proactive and regular visits or calls.
  • Remote employees are required to travel to the Swiss site on request to deliver configured product demos for prospects.
  • Identify and keep track of all details and feedback at the customer site to the broader Marketing, Product Management and R&D teams.
  • Help defining customer requirements and applications for new products.
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
  • You have a Master or PhD degree in Biology, Life sciences, Bioengineering, Medicine or in a related field allowing you to easily understand the product’s applications.
  • Hands‑on experience in in‑situ techniques including immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, in‑situ hybridization, multiomics or microscopy is strongly desired.
  • Experience in image analysis spatial data is a strong plus.
  • Several years of prior experience in supporting customers in a highly technical field, with demonstrated commitment to customer is highly valued.
  • Ability to effectively write technical supporting documents.
  • Experience in CRM applications and maintenance is helpful.
  • You are independent, confident, and creative in running experiments in a laboratory.
  • You are a good listener, you like interacting with people and bring advice and solutions to them and demonstrate good customer service skills.
  • You can adapt in a dynamic environment.
  • You demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • You demonstrate good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • You like travelling.
  • Fluency in oral and written English is a must.
  • Additional language skills including German, Italian or French are highly desired.
