Senior Family Support Worker and Bank Senior Family Support Worker
Starting Salary: £13.50 per hour, based on 40-hour week: £28,080

Job Summary

Senior Family Support Workers at Primrose Family Care provide high-quality family care, support, and assessment, working with parents to ensure children's safety and support families in developing parenting skills. They collaborate with managers, social workers, and other professionals to deliver evidence-based interventions that create positive family environments. The role includes leading shifts with support from the Registered Manager, guiding Family Support Workers, and bringing additional skills like safeguarding, complex family support, assessment, or Early Years’ experience. Responsibilities include assisting with family and parental assessments, supporting routines, safeguarding children, and maintaining high standards of care and legal compliance, including the Children’s Act 1989. Practical duties include managing the home environment, documentation, and risk management. Applicants should have a childcare or health and social care qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3), strong safeguarding knowledge, resilience, and excellent communication skills, with a commitment to professional growth!

Main Responsibilities
  • Taking a lead on shift with help from the Registered Manager. Direct staff in their duties when the Registered Manager is absent. Act up or represent the Registered Manager in meetings with other agencies as needed.
  • Promote equality and diversity by interpreting and applying relevant legislation and policies.
  • Foster a non-discriminatory culture that supports individual rights and eliminates discriminatory practices by adhering to anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive practice.
  • Commit to Primrose Family Care, values, aims and objectives (see Statement of Purpose).
  • Assist the Manager in embedding the values, aims and objectives of Primrose Family Care with staff.
  • Ensure all confidential information is protected.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Carry out any other tasks reasonably assigned.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Education
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Childcare and or Health and Social Care or other relevant qualification, or willingness to undertake this qualification.
Experience
  • Experience working with children and families.
  • Previous experience of working in a residential setting (desirable).
  • Previous experience of leading and supporting staff (desirable).
Knowledge and Understanding
  • Good understanding of safeguarding children, relevant legislation (Children Act 1989, Data Protection Act 2018), and policies for residential family centres. Knowledge of care and placement planning. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lead a team and role model values and good practice.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
