Job summary

South Gloucestershire Council seeks an Advanced Social Worker – Family Help Lead Practitioner to deliver skilled, relationship-based social work across Child in Need, Child Protection and early Children in Care planning. You will mentor colleagues and contribute to practice development while managing complex cases with sound professional judgement.

The role is based in our South Family Help Hub, Kingswood, with opportunities for flexible working.

Qualifications

• Must hold a recognised social work qualification and current registration with Social Work England.
• Significant post-qualification experience in a local authority children’s services setting.
• Detailed knowledge of children’s legislation with strong assessment, planning and risk-management skills.
• Ability to mentor and support others and share professional knowledge.
• Strong communication and relationship-building with children, families, colleagues and partner agencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead Practitioner for Family Help Lead Practitioner; complete assessments, coordinate plans and work with partners.
• Manage complex Family Help work across Child in Need, Child Protection and early Children in Care.
• Provide mentoring, consultation and practice support to colleagues, students and newly qualified social workers.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to team learning and service development.
• Travel throughout the authority and surrounding area as required.
