A national organisation is seeking a Senior Executive Officer (Governance) to provide high-level executive and governance support. Job description

Morgan Hunt are currently working with an Ombudsman Body in their search for an interim Senior Executive Officer (Governance) to provide high-level executive, governance and business support. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced PA, governance or senior administrative professional to support directors and contribute to the wider corporate governance function.

In this role, you will sit within the Central Governance & Assurance team, supporting the Director/COO and working across the wider directorate. You will provide diary and inbox management, coordinate meetings, prepare agendas and minutes, and ensure accurate tracking of actions. You will also support governance work such as policy development, regulatory compliance, updating risk and assurance documentation, and contributing to corporate reporting cycles.

The role requires a proactive, organised and highly professional individual who is confident supporting senior leaders, managing sensitive information and maintaining strong communication across teams. You will act as a reliable point of coordination within the directorate, providing cover for other roles where required and contributing to the smooth running of the governance function.

Job Title: Senior Executive Officer (Governance)

Location: Home-based (with monthly London attendance - expensed)

Salary: £42,935.56 per annum

Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract (12 months)

Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week)

Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide executive support to the Director/COO, including diary management, inbox management and coordinating correspondence.
  • Organise and support directorate meetings: agenda planning, minute taking, logistics and action tracking.
  • Provide governance support across the directorate, including policy development and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Support governance boards and committees, ensuring papers, logistics, travel and arrangements are efficiently managed.
  • Prepare reports, briefings and packs for internal and external meetings.
  • Assist with the maintenance of risk registers, assurance mapping and monitoring key governance deadlines.
  • Respond quickly and professionally to support requests from senior leaders.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Provide cross-team cover and contribute to continuous improvement in governance processes.
Candidate Profile
  • Strong PA, executive support, governance or business support background.
  • Experience supporting senior leaders in complex or regulated environments (public sector, housing, regulatory bodies desirable).
  • Confident minute taker with experience managing agendas, papers and action logs.
  • Excellent organisational, planning and prioritisation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office and MS365 skills.
  • Able to work independently, handle competing priorities and deliver to tight deadlines.
  • Professional, discreet and confident building relationships at all levels.
