Job summary

EY is seeking a Senior Executive (Manager) in Infrastructure Advisory for London or regional offices (Manchester, Bristol or Scotland). You will deliver expert financial and commercial advice on infrastructure projects, support government and private sector clients, and help grow EY’s advisory footprint across the UK.

The role focuses on transactions, policy and financial strategy, with a strong emphasis on decommissioning or decarbonisation initiatives and complex funding structures.

Qualifications

• Excellent financial skills including corporate finance understanding.
• Experience in financial modelling, including debt structures.
• Advanced professional financial qualification (e.g., CIPFA, CA, ACA, CFA, MBA).

Responsibilities

• Provide expert financial, commercial and strategic advice to clients, on transactions and policy.
• Develop and nurture a sector-wide network to support business development.
• Support option appraisals and evidence-based decision making.
• Build and work with financial models and financing structures.
• Create business cases with strategic, economic, financial and commercial evaluation.
• Advise on procurements and draft bids for public services and infrastructure projects.
• Present reports to senior client stakeholders to enable informed decisions.

EY Parthenon’s Infrastructure Advisory practice advises public and private sector clients on transactions and broader financial, strategic, and commercial advice mainly related to infrastructure projects and programmes. We support government and private sector clients tackle some of today’s biggest challenges including decarbonising the economy by transitioning to cleaner forms of energy; levelling up via regional devolution; delivering high quality and efficient public services; and strategically managing capital.

We are focused on growing our practice as we respond to the UK’s infrastructure agenda and the particular large Government led infrastructure programmes. We are looking for a motivated and passionate Senior Executive (Manager) to join us in our London or regional offices (Manchester, Bristol or Scotland).

You’ll be part of a growing and dynamic team facing some of the most complex projects across the government, energy and transport sectors, delivering insight and quality services increasing social value, enabling a more sustainable future, and helping us to deliver our purpose of building a better working world.

Your key responsibilities

• Working in small, inclusive and dynamic teams to provide expert financial, commercial and strategic advice to clients, both on transactions and more broadly on policy and financial strategy

• Developing and nurturing a network across the sector to support business development activity

• Helping our clients make informed and robust evidence-based decisions through option appraisals
• Building and working with financial models, including establishing appropriate financing structures and undertaking sensitivity and scenario analysis
• Creating business cases involving strategic, economic, financial and commercial evaluation
• Structuring and advising on procurements, including evaluating bids received for projects on behalf of project sponsors and helping sponsors drafting bids for the provision of public services and infrastructure investment
• Presenting impactful reports to senior client stakeholders to facilitate effective decision making
• Driving key business development activities, including EY’s wider growth strategies

Skills and attributes for success

• An understanding of, and interest in, the Government, Energy and Transport sectors

• An understanding of the key strategic drivers in the infrastructure sector with particular focus on Government led projects

• The ability to thrive in an inclusive and flexible working environment as part of a diverse and dynamic team
• The ability to build effective working relationships with team members, organisations and clients
• High degree of personal drive and motivation to enhance your knowledge, develop your skills and succeed
• Financial/data analysis and financial modelling capability
• Commercial and financial acumen
• High quality report drafting and document preparation
• Strong and engaging presentation skills

To qualify for the role you must have

• Excellent financial skills, including an understanding of corporate finance
• Experience in financial modelling, including modelling of debt structures
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• High degree of personal drive and motivation to enhance your knowledge and succeed
• The ability to build effective working relationships with team members, organisations and clients
• Experience working in the Government, Energy or Transport sectors

Ideally, you’ll also have

• An advanced professional financial qualification e.g. CIPFA, CA, ACA, CFA, MBA
• Extensive experience working in the UK public/infrastructure sector
