Job summary

Avanti Grange School in Bishop's Stortford is seeking a Lead Exam Invigilator to oversee a team of invigilators, ensuring exams are conducted fairly, securely and in line with JCQ rules.

You will coordinate sessions with the Examinations Manager, prepare rooms, supervise candidates, handle incidents, and maintain calm, supportive environments for all students. This role also involves safeguarding responsibilities and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience leading exam invigilators or similar supervisory roles.
• Ability to follow JCQ/exam regulations and school policies.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the invigilator team to ensure fair, secure exams per JCQ and school rules.
• Prepare rooms, admit/seats candidates, distribute papers and provide instructions.
• Supervise exams, monitor incidents and report irregularities as required.
• Complete attendance, candidate checks, script collection and secure material return.
• Undertake training and assist with access arrangements and timetable supervision.
