Job Title : Senior European Road Freight Operator

Location : Morley, LS27

Salary : £38, – £45, DOE

Flexible hours : 7:30-16:00 and 9:00-17:30 (37.5 hour week)

Senior European Road Freight Operator Job Purpose

To plan and execute groupage and full-load transport solutions to and from European destinations, ensuring operational efficiency, compliance with customs formalities, and high levels of customer service. The role involves managing transport operations, liaising with drivers and international partners, and overseeing the work of a Junior Operator.

Senior European Road Freight Operator Key Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate groupage, full-load, and express deliveries across Europe
• Manage round-trip driver interactions and scheduling
• Source and negotiate one-way international haulage with third‑party providers
• Maintain regular communication with overseas agents and partners
• Allocate domestic collection / delivery tasks to in‑house or subcontracted carriers
• Handle customer queries, providing timely updates on shipment statuses
• Monitor and manage KPIs for key client accounts
• Perform accurate data entry and generate transport documentation
• Prepare and send spot rate quotations
• Ensure timely and accurate charging of files for invoicing purposes
• Complete customs clearance processes, including export / import declarations, GVMS, and NCTS procedures
• Supervise and support a Junior Operator in daily operations

Senior European Road Freight Operator Skills and Experience Required

• Proven experience in European road freight operations or a similar logistics environment
• Strong knowledge of international customs procedures and documentation
• Solid understanding of the import / export market and industry regulations
• Strong administrative skills and attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Customer‑focused approach with the ability to build and maintain client relationships
• Commercial awareness with an understanding of operational costs and revenue
• Team leadership experience is an advantage
