Job Description

Nicholas Associates are recruiting for an Estimator/Senior Estimator for a well‑established RC frame and groundworks company based in Hertfordshire, delivering high‑quality civil engineering solutions across London and the Home Counties. Due to sustained growth and a strong pipeline of work, we are seeking someone to join our experienced commercial team.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for RC frame and groundworks projects from first principles.
• Analyse tender documents, drawings, and specifications.
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
• Attend pre‑tender and post‑tender meetings when required.
• Work collaboratively with the operations team to ensure the transition from tender to delivery is smooth.
• Maintain a strong understanding of current market rates and industry trends.
• Support and mentor junior estimators as needed (Senior Estimator level).

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Estimator in the RC frame and groundworks sector (UK‑based experience essential).
• Proven track record of successfully pricing and winning work.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry regulations.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software (e.g., ConQuest, Candy, or similar).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A proactive and detail‑oriented approach.
