Job description

We are looking for a Senior Estimator to join a reputable construction company in London, known for delivering high-quality new build, refurbishment, and structural alteration projects across the commercial sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator who can manage projects from initial enquiry through to final submission, working within a stable and well-established organisation.

About the Role: In this role, you will take ownership of the full estimating process for projects delivered within the M25. You will be based primarily in the office, with occasional work-from-home flexibility and site visits as required.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Preparing accurate and competitive tenders across commercial, residential, education, and mixed-use projects.
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, and contract documents to produce detailed cost plans and bills of quantities.
  • Managing the full lifecycle of each tender ("cradle to grave"), including measurement, pricing, value engineering, and handover.
  • Engaging with clients, consultants, and subcontractors throughout the tender period.
  • Leading tender meetings and coordinating internal review processes.
  • Conducting site visits to assess access, logistics, constraints, and technical challenges.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date understanding of market rates, supplier pricing, and construction methodologies.
  • Supporting the wider pre-construction and delivery teams to ensure tenders are aligned with operational capabilities.
  • Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender submissions to a high standard.
  • Analyse technical drawings, structural details, and design information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Compare subcontractor quotations, evaluate value engineering options, and prepare recommendation reports.
  • Work across a range of traditional contracting projects including new builds, refurbishments, structural alterations, and cut-and-carve schemes.
  • Manage deadlines, tender documentation, and bid progress effectively.
  • Maintain clear and organised tender files for audit and handover.
  • Represent the company professionally during meetings, presentations, and negotiations.
Experience Required:
  • Minimum 6 years' experience as an Estimator within a traditional construction contractor environment.
  • Strong background pricing commercial-sector projects (refurbishment, new build, structural, interiors).
  • Proven ability to manage the estimating process from start to finish.
  • Solid technical understanding of construction packages, supply chain pricing, and build methodologies.
  • Strong IT skills, including familiarity with estimating software and digital takeoff tools>
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organisational abilities.

Qualifications:
  • HNC/HND or degree in Construction, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional training or certification in estimating or measurement (e.g., CIOB, RICS) advantageous.
  • Strong working knowledge of standard measurement methods and industry guidelines.
