Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Senior Estimator in civil engineering (rail experience highly advantageous).
  • Strong first principles estimating background and understanding of civil construction processes.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills.
  • Confident communicator able to lead discussions internally and externally.
  • A proactive mindset and the ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of competitive and commercially sound tenders.
  • Take ownership of tender reviews, pricing, and estimating processes.
  • Produce detailed quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns from drawings.
  • Prepare and manage supplier and sub-contractor enquiries.
  • Lead tender meetings, risk reviews, and presentations.

Are you a seasoned civil engineering estimator looking for your next challenge?

This is an opportunity to step into a senior role with a well-established Scottish contractor that's growing fast and delivering some of the country's most diverse and rewarding infrastructure projects.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Estimator, you'll lead the preparation of competitive and commercially sound tenders across a range of civil engineering works - from asset management frameworks to major rail and non-rail infrastructure schemes.

You'll be the key figure in shaping bid strategy, pricing methodology, and tender delivery - working closely with planners, engineers, and project managers to ensure every submission stands out for its quality, accuracy, and value.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Taking ownership of tender reviews, pricing, and estimating processes.
  • Producing detailed quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns from drawings and specifications.
  • Preparing and managing supplier and sub-contractor enquiries, ensuring competitiveness and accuracy.
  • Applying first principles estimating and benchmarking techniques to validate pricing.
  • Leading tender meetings, risk reviews, and bid presentations.
  • Collaborating with the wider bid and delivery teams to align approach, methodology, and resourcing.
  • Supporting post-tender negotiations and providing commercial handover to the project team.
  • Driving continual improvement through post-tender analysis and lessons learned.
What You'll Bring
