Job summary

G2 Recruitment Group Limited is supporting a Local Authority in Kent to appoint a Senior Environmental Protection Officer on an initial 6-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension. The role offers hybrid working and the chance to manage a varied caseload in a supportive team.

You will lead air quality assessments, planning responses, licensing consultations, and contaminated land investigations, with remote working most days and a site visit every two weeks.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Health or a relevant scientific discipline.
• Experience in a Local Authority Environmental Protection team.
• Knowledge across Air Quality, Planning Consultations, Licensing, Contaminated Land, and Environmental Permitting.
• Ability to manage a diverse workload independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

We are currently supporting a Local Authority in Kent with the appointment of an experienced Senior Environmental Protection Officer on an initial 6-month contract, with a strong likelihood of extension.

This is an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional looking to take ownership of a varied caseload while benefiting from a flexible working arrangement. The successful candidate will be required to attend the office/site one Thursday every two weeks, with the remainder of the work completed remotely.

Essential Requirements

• Degree qualification in Environmental Health or a relevant Scientific Discipline
• Previous experience working within a Local Authority Environmental Protection team

• Environmental Permitting
