This is a remote position.

This role is only open to current residents of the UK. No relocation or visa support is provided, but there may be routes to visa sponsorship for suitable candidates in the future. It is important that you possess full working rights within the UK at the time of your application. Candidates who do not meet this requirement may not be responded to.

We are a specialist project management consultancy supporting the development and delivery of major energy and infrastructure projects across England, Wales and Scotland.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Environmental Project Manager to lead the environmental work-streams of complex infrastructure projects from early concept and feasibility through consenting, pre-construction and Final Investment Decision (FID).

Working as part of integrated client and project teams, you will coordinate environmental strategy, surveys, assessments and technical inputs, ensuring environmental considerations are embedded within project planning and decision-making. You will provide clear oversight of programme, risk, cost and deliverables while managing relationships with developers, technical specialists, regulators and other stakeholders.

This role would suit someone who understands both the technical and project management requirements of environmental delivery and can confidently operate in a client-facing consultancy environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead environmental work-streams from early feasibility and site selection through consenting, pre-construction and FID

  • Develop and manage environmental strategies, scopes, programmes, budgets and delivery plans

  • Coordinate Environmental Impact Assessments and associated technical disciplines

  • Manage environmental consultants, survey providers and specialist subcontractors

  • Oversee the commissioning, delivery and quality assurance of environmental surveys, assessments and reports

  • Ensure environmental activities are integrated with engineering, planning, land, grid, commercial and project delivery work-streams

  • Identify and manage environmental risks, constraints, dependencies and opportunities

  • Monitor progress against programme, budget and project milestones

  • Support consenting strategies across the relevant planning regimes in England, Wales and Scotland.

  • Coordinate environmental inputs into DCO, DNS, Section 36, TCPA and other consent applications, where applicable

  • Engage with planning authorities, statutory consultees, regulators, landowners and community stakeholders

  • Support procurement, consultant appointments and commercial management of environmental work packages.

  • Prepare clear progress reports, risk updates and recommendations for clients and project governance forums

  • Support projects through due diligence, investment approvals and readiness for FID

  • Contribute to the continued development of the consultancy’s environmental project management capability

Requirements

You will have experience managing environmental work-streams within the development of major infrastructure, energy or other complex projects. You may come from an environmental consultancy, developer, engineering consultancy or client-side project delivery background.

You should be comfortable taking ownership of multiple work-streams, working with limited supervision and translating complex environmental information into clear actions and decisions.

Essential Experience

  • Experience managing environmental delivery for major infrastructure, energy or development projects

  • Knowledge of one or more UK consenting regimes, including DCO, DNS, Section 36 or TCPA

  • Knowledge of the environmental requirements associated with project development and consenting

  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary environmental assessments, surveys and technical specialists

  • Understanding of Environmental Impact Assessment processes

  • Ability to develop and manage programmes, budgets, risks and consultant scopes

  • Experience working with developers, technical consultants, regulators or statutory stakeholders

  • Ability to identify interfaces and dependencies across environmental, planning, engineering and commercial work-streams

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

  • Confidence operating in a client-facing consultancy environment

  • Ability to work independently within a remote and geographically distributed team

Benefits

You will join a specialist consultancy working on complex, nationally important infrastructure projects during the development stages when effective environmental leadership can have the greatest influence on project outcomes.

The role offers variety, autonomy and the opportunity to work closely with clients and multidisciplinary project teams across the UK. You will also have the opportunity to help shape our environmental project management offering as the business continues to grow.

Benefits Include

  • A fully remote role to be based from anywhere in the UK

  • An autonomous, mature, and completely flexible working environment.

  • An entrepreneurial and supportive environment to help you develop your career in the direction that works for you.

  • A very competitive remuneration package that includes profit-related bonus payments.
