Job summary

Shirley Parsons is partnering with a leading UK infrastructure business to recruit a Senior Environmental Advisor for major water infrastructure projects. The role focuses on shaping sustainable outcomes, protecting the environment, and driving best practice across complex schemes.

You will champion environmental excellence, lead compliance and innovation, influence major projects, and shape environmental strategy including permits and ISO 14001.

Qualifications

• Experience as Environmental Advisor or similar in construction, infrastructure or civil engineering.
• Solid understanding of UK environmental legislation and environmental management systems.
• Confident communicator with ability to influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert environmental advice across the full project lifecycle, embedding best practice from start to finish.
• Lead site inspections, audits and environmental initiatives to improve performance.
• Collaborate with project teams, regulators and stakeholders to deliver sustainable infrastructure solutions.
• Support delivery of environmental plans, permits and ISO 14001 management systems.
• Deliver training, investigate incidents and promote a culture of environmental responsibility on projects.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Champion Environmental Excellence – Provide expert environmental advice throughout the full project lifecycle, ensuring best practice is embedded from start to finish.

• Influence Major Projects – Work closely with project teams, clients, regulators and stakeholders to deliver sustainable infrastructure solutions.

• Make a Lasting Impact – Deliver training, investigate incidents, and help shape a culture where environmental responsibility is at the heart of every project.

Who They're Looking For:

• Experienced Environmental Professional – Previous experience in an Environmental Advisor or similar role within construction, infrastructure or civil engineering.
• Well-developed Technical Knowledge – Solid understanding of UK environmental legislation, compliance requirements and environmental management systems.
• Confident Communicator – Able to build relationships, influence stakeholders and provide practical advice across project teams.
