Job summary

Blue Astral Consulting seeks a Senior Enterprise Platform and Integration Architect to act as a strategic advisor, shaping secure composable enterprise platforms and guiding domain teams, platform engineers, and executives on best practices.

You will define target state blueprints, advise on secure API management, event data, and domain capabilities while mentoring delivery teams and challenging vendors to deliver resilient, vendor-agnostic solutions across on-premises and cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Ten or more years in senior IT advisory, platform or enterprise architecture, steering complex multi vendor cloud transformations.
• Deep practical mastery of secure API gateways, event driven streaming and enterprise event schema governance across distributed systems.
• Extensive consulting experience influencing senior leadership, mentoring stream aligned teams and applying composable platform principles.
• A proven track record challenging third party deliverables and driving technical accountability through procurement.
• A strong foundation in multi cloud architecture, CI/CD security pipelines, container security, identity federation and fine grained access control.
• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, with TOGAF or cloud architecture certifications an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Secure API and event data architecture. Set enterprise standards for API first integration and secure API gateways.
• Architect event driven blueprints covering event brokers, schema registries, pub/sub routing and governance across domains.
• Guide domain teams on decomposing legacy systems into modular capabilities and domain services; maintain reference architectures and developer portals.
• Define guardrails for combining microservices, automation engines and low code/pro-code composition into unified experiences.
• Set target state cloud strategy across SaaS, PaaS and IaaS; guide infrastructure as code, container orchestration governance, zero trust boundaries and RBAC in CI/CD pipelines.

Senior Enterprise Platform and Integration Architect (Consultant)

Remote, with some client site visits · Contract / Consulting engagement

Active UK Security Clearance is essential for this role. You must already hold it, or be eligible to obtain it. Applicants who cannot be cleared will not be able to proceed.

We are looking for a senior Enterprise Platform and Integration Architect to act as an expert strategic advisor steering the design and adoption of secure composable enterprise platforms. You will guide domain teams, platform engineers and executive stakeholders using best practice frameworks, including composable platform, domain driven and event driven patterns.

Your focus is defining target state platform blueprints and advising on secure API management, event data and digital services, and domain capability services. You will mentor delivery teams and rigorously challenge external vendors and system integrators to deliver resilient, scalable and vendor agnostic solutions across on premise and cloud.

What you will do

Secure API and event data architecture. You will set enterprise standards for API first integration and secure API gateways (edge security, mutual TLS, identity token validation, rate limiting and full API lifecycle management), and architect event driven blueprints covering event brokers, schema registries, pub and sub routing and message contract governance across domains.

Platform design strategy and business services. You will advise domain teams on decomposing legacy systems into modular Packaged Business Capabilities and domain oriented services, maintain enterprise reference architectures, blueprints and developer portals, and set the guardrails for combining microservices, automation engines and low code and pro code composition into unified experiences.

Vendor and supplier governance. You will critically review and challenge vendor and system integrator proposals, API gateway designs and technology selections, enforce enterprise non functional standards (latency, broker throughput, multi tenancy, high availability and total cost of ownership), and define the technical evaluation criteria for RFIs and RFPs that keep products free of proprietary lock in.

Cloud, DevSecOps and security guardrails. You will set target state cloud strategy across SaaS, PaaS and IaaS, and guide teams on infrastructure as code, container orchestration governance, zero trust boundaries and attribute and role based access control within automated CI/CD pipelines.
