Job summary

BWB Consulting Ltd. is seeking an experienced geotechnical engineer to lead projects from concept to delivery, combining site and office work.

You will mentor engineers, manage budgets, and build client relationships while delivering innovative geotechnical designs across earthworks and foundations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (or Engineering Geology with geotechnical design experience).
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
• At least 5 years’ experience leading smaller projects and contributing to complex schemes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a collaborative, innovative team.
• Deliver technically excellent designs and solutions across earthworks, foundations, slope stability, pavements, and retaining structures.
• Oversee ground investigations, from site logging to reporting, aligned with BS5930 and Eurocode 7.
• Use industry-leading geotechnical software to deliver innovative solutions (Slope W, Plaxis, Geo5).
• Build strong client relationships and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high quality.
• Champion continuous improvement with fresh thinking and best practice.

What You’ll Be Doing

No two days will be the same in this role – you’ll get the best of both worlds with a mix of site and office-based work. You’ll take ownership of projects, shape designs from concept to delivery, and mentor the next generation of engineers.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who blends technical expertise with leadership and a genuine passion for geotechnical engineering.

• Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (or Engineering Geology with geotechnical design experience); a Master’s is an advantage.
• Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it).
• At least 5 years’ experience, with a proven record of leading smaller projects and contributing to complex schemes.
• Strong geotechnical design and analysis skills (Slope W, Plaxis, Geo5 or similar).
• Excellent communication and people skills – with a collaborative, supportive approach.
