Job summary

Kraft Recruitment is sourcing a Senior Engineering Buyer for a Central London office with an option to work from home one day per week. You will join a small international procurement team handling spare parts and assemblies for global manufacturing clients.

The ideal candidate has a degree in Engineering or a science subject, 5+ years in engineering buying, and familiarity with OEM Machinery & Equipment suppliers in Europe and Asia, including INCO terms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in engineering and allied products.
• Degree in Engineering or a science subject.
• Hands-on ability to manage enquiries, quotations and contracts onto computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with key manufacturing organisations in FMCG sectors.
• Act as single point of contact between internal customer and Engineering team.
• Select and develop vendors to meet specifications, quality and logistics.
• Understand internal requirements and float enquiries.
• Negotiate prices and draft terms and conditions of purchase.
• Implement cost control and improvement programmes with vendors to maximise profit.
• Maintain professional relationships with suppliers.
• Mentor team members.

An opportunity is available for an experienced senior engineering buyer to join my client's business. They are a leading global sourcing specialist of raw materials and machinery for manufacturing companies worldwide. The role is office based in Central London with an option to work from home once a week. Their ideal candidate will be ideally educated to degree level in Engineering or a science subject, have proven engineering buying experience, familiarity with OEM Machinery & Equipment suppliers in Europe and Asia, as well as INCO terms as this is an international Trading environment.

Senior Engineering Buyer role:

Working as the Senior Engineering Buyer you will operate within a small international procurement team, and be responsible for the procurement of Spare Parts and Assemblies for Manufacturing Industries in the Middle East. There will be opportunities for sourcing products from Europe and the Far East. Visiting the client organisation and key suppliers. Your role will also be responsible for:

• Liaising with a select few key manufacturing organisations in the FMCG sectors (Food & Beverage, Confectionery, Canning, Edible Oil), Sugar Refining, Cement Manufacturing and Power Plants.
• Act as a single point of contact between the internal customer and the Engineering team.
• Selection and development of vendors to best meet the specifications, quality and logistical requirements.
• Understand the internal customer's requirements and float enquiries.
• Negotiate prices and draft terms and conditions of purchase.
• Implement cost control and improvement programmes with vendors to maximise profit contribution through effective purchasing and establishing commercial agreements.
• Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken with all supplier relationships.
• Mentor members of the team.

Senior Engineering Buyer requirement:

• Experienced buyer/purchaser with strong commercial understanding. Preferably worked in the FMCG sector.
• 5+ years' experience in engineering and allied products.
• Familiarity with OEM Machinery & Equipment suppliers in Europe and Asia.
• Familiarity with INCO terms as this is an international Trading environment.
• Ability to evaluate suppliers and negotiate favourable terms of business.
• Degree in Engineering or a science subject with technical experience.
• Hands-on ability to manage and enter enquiries, quotations and contracts onto computer systems.
• Numerate with high degree of computer literacy.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural setup.
• Extensive practical experience worked in a manufacturing / technical buying environment; experience in Project Procurement will be an added advantage.
