Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Engineer to join our Renewables team in the UK. You will lead design and studies for offshore wind, onshore wind, solar PV, energy storage, HVDC, and related electrical infrastructure.

You will manage technical specifications, deliverables, and client liaison across projects, mentoring junior engineers and driving innovations while ensuring CDM compliance and safe, constructible designs.

Qualifications

• Experience in offshore renewables (offshore wind) or onshore renewables (onshore wind or solar PV) or energy storage (BESS).
• Knowledge of submarine cable systems, HVDC, and UK grid compliance (G5/5, P28).
• Understanding of UK HSE legislation, Risk and CDM management.

Responsibilities

• Create design deliverables for packages of work, including technical specifications and contractual documentation.
• Undertake design analysis and review others' work to ensure quality of deliverables.
• Lead projects and manage deliverables to timescales and budgets.
• Develop personal and company profiles within the client base and wider industry.
• Provide technical support to project delivery teams and ensure safe, constructible designs.

Role description

Operating within our Renewables team as a Senior Engineer you will undertake design and studies including technical specifications for designs and contractual documentation for our clients and will lead projects as appropriate.

Most of our engagements are with renewable energy developers and we also provide services to the wider energy industry including energy storage and utility clients, in the UK and internationally.

Projects can include offshore wind, onshore wind, Battery Energy Storage Systems, solar PV, HVDC, and other renewable generation and associated electrical infrastructure.

The position includes a level of responsibility and accountability with an opportunity to develop your managerial as well as technical knowledge and skills, and to progress within a successful and growing specialist team.

As a Senior Engineer you will be part of renewable energy project teams and will be expected to continuously develop your technical skills through on-the-job, formal training and through your own research, and provide support in the development of junior engineers and graduates.

The position can be based anywhere in the UK.

You will be in control of your own diary and benefit from flexible working arrangements

Role accountabilities

• Create design deliverables for packages of work, including technical specifications for designs and contractual documentation
• Undertake design analysis, and where necessary, review the work of others to ensure quality of the deliverables
• Perform detailed design or, consultancy projects across the life cycle of a renewable energy project from concept stage, through design, construction, operational maintenance and end of life works
• Resolve technical problems, provide solutions, advise clients and stakeholders
• Lead projects and manage deliverables to timescales and budgets
• Develop personal and company profiles within the client base and wider industry
• Support project delivery teams, from a technical perspective
• Deliver safe and constructible designs through CDM awareness
• Lead design and deliverable innovations, which deliver value for company and clients alike

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience in at least one of the following areas:
• Offshore renewables (e.g offshore wind)
• Onshore renewables (e.g. onshore wind or solar PV)
• Energy storage (e.g. BESS)
• Submarine cable systems
• HVDC
• Power systems analysis and modelling (steady-state/dynamic) using industry standard software such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS®E, PSCAD, ETAP, CYMCap.
• UK grid compliance (e.g G5/5, P28)
• UK grid connection process
• Desired – Working towards or have achieved Chartered MIET membership or chartership of another appropriate leading UK engineering institution
• Understanding of UK HSE legislation, Risk and CDM management
• Ability to travel to meet clients when necessary.
