Job summary

MWH Treatment Limited is seeking a Senior EICA Engineer to lead technically robust design work across major water treatment projects in the UK, delivering electrical, instrumentation, control and automation solutions that ensure safety and sustainability.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with process, mechanical, civil and commissioning teams, and develop practical, buildable designs while managing risk and ensuring right-first-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience in EICA design for water/wastewater or regulated engineering environments.
• Ability to lead and check engineering outputs across disciplines.
• Chartered or working towards Chartership preferred.
• Relevant degree or HND in electrical/control/instrumentation/automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead EICA design tasks and packages to standards, budgets and programmes.
• Develop electrical, instrumentation, control and automation layouts for construction, commissioning and operation.
• Review EICA outputs within your area of authority.
• Coordinate EICA designs with process, mechanical, civil, digital and commissioning teams.
• Provide input on control systems, MCCs, ICA equipment, electrical distribution, telemetry and automation.

Are you a Senior EICA Engineer ready to help power the systems behind safer, smarter water infrastructure?At MWH Treatment, our EICA engineers are central to designing the electrical, instrumentation, control and automation solutions that keep critical water and wastewater assets running safely, efficiently and sustainably.

We are looking for a Senior EICA Engineer to lead technically robust design work, influence project delivery and help shape practical, buildable solutions across major treatment projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead EICA design tasks and packages to agreed technical standards, budgets and programmes.
• Develop electrical, instrumentation, control and automation layouts that are practical, cost-effective and suitable for construction, commissioning and long-term operation.
• Review and assure EICA technical outputs within your area of authority.
• Coordinate EICA designs with process, mechanical, civil, digital and commissioning teams to support smooth project delivery.
• Provide technical input on control systems, MCCs, ICA equipment, electrical distribution, telemetry, automation and associated water industry assets.
• Identify design risks, maintain clear technical records and contribute to safe, compliant and right-first-time delivery.
• Mentor junior engineers, graduates and apprentices, sharing specialist EICA knowledge across the team.
• Build strong working relationships with clients, discipline leads, suppliers, subcontractors and site teams.

Essential

• Strong experience in EICA design within water, wastewater, process, utilities or a similarly regulated engineering environment.
• Good understanding of electrical distribution, motor control centres, instrumentation, control systems, automation and associated design standards.
• Appreciation of automated control systems, PLC/SCADA interfaces, telemetry and commissioning requirements.
• Ability to produce and review practical, economic and buildable EICA design solutions.
• Experience leading, checking or mentoring engineers within an EICA or related engineering discipline.
• Membership of a professional institution, ideally Chartered or working towards Chartership.
• Relevant engineering qualification, ideally an electrical, control, instrumentation or automation engineering degree, or minimum HND in a relevant discipline.
• Knowledge of current wiring regulations, including 18th Edition, or the ability to demonstrate equivalent competence.
• Ability to present technical proposals clearly, confidently and commercially.
• Computer literacy and a full UK driving licence.
