Responsibilities

  • Lead the approval of Staged Design submissions from Independent Connection Providers.
  • Act as the primary interface between ICPs and internal teams for connection projects.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders for clear communication of designs.
  • Manage connection requests and quotations timely and accurately.
  • Integrate asset stewardship values through engineering principles.
  • Drive performance improvement through analysis of design outputs.
  • Apply innovative solutions across technological, procedural, and commercial aspects.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder and customer relationships.
  • Champion a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Mentor junior team members to build capability.

What you'll be doing

Working within theSP Distributionbusiness, you'll play a key role in the approval of Major Distributed Generation (DG) designs, ensuring that all proposals meet SPEN standards. You'll support a smooth transition from design to delivery by providing clear, actionable instructions to delivery teams. You'll also collaborate closely with Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) to ensure their installation designs are compliant with SPEN specifications and contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the network.

In addition, you'll be responsible for the planning and design of the district distribution network, ensuring system stewardship, network security, and integrity. You'll undertake system analysis to determine load/generation connections, network alterations, and reinforcement requirements, delivering solutions aligned with Asset Management policies and customer needs.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead the approval of Staged Design submissions from Independent Connection Providers (ICPs), ensuring compliance with SPEN standards and technical requirements.
  • Act as the primary interface between ICPs and internal SPEN teams, managing a portfolio of connection projects from initial design through to delivery handover.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure designs are clearly communicated and deliverable, supporting a smooth transition from planning to execution.
  • Manage connection requests and quotations in line with regulatory and licence obligations, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Integrate asset stewardship values through sound engineering principles and coordinated planning.
  • Drive performance improvement through analysis of design outputs and customer feedback.
  • Apply innovative solutions across technological, procedural, and commercial aspects.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder and customer relationships.
  • Champion a safety-first culture across all design activities and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, graduates, and trainees to build capability within the team.
What you'll need
