Job summary

Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Engineer to work with Energy on GGP in the UK. PTNO in Porthmadog. The role focuses on health and safety, temporary works, and site supervision across engineering, procurement and construction activities.

You will engage with clients, designers and the project team to ensure accurate information, proper documentation and compliant practices. Strong knowledge of civil legislation and safe methods is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience in Construction or Civil Engineering projects.
• Experience within ITPs, RAMs & Temporary Works.
• Excellent knowledge of current civil engineering legislation and safety rules.
• Ability to discuss engineering issues across levels and disciplines.
• Ability to implement and manage safe systems of work.

Responsibilities

• Establish and promote best practice in health, safety and environmental matters with the SHQE department.
• Assist with temporary works design schemes.
• Maintain good working relations with client/designer/team and supply chain.
• Advise engineers on setting out methods and techniques.
• Ensure drawings/specifications contain sufficient information for construction; request missing data timely.
• Communicate with foremen and supervisors to ensure understanding of information provided.
• Oversee selection and requisition of materials and plant for construction.
• Prepare risk assessments and method statements for control of works.
• Keep a full daily site diary, noting changes, subcontractor attendance, and discussions.
• Ensure inspection and test plans are completed as required.

A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Site Engineer:

• Establish and promote best practice in health, safety and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHQE department.
• Assist with temporary works design schemes
• Maintain good working relations with client / designer / Team, together with our supply chain.
• Advise engineers on setting out methods and techniques.
• Ensure that the drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for construction of the works. Formally request any missing information in sufficient time to allow the programme to proceed without delay.
• Communicate with foremen and supervisors to ensure full understanding of information provided.
• Overseeing the selection and requisition of materials and plant for the use in the construction process.
• Prepare written risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works.
• Keep a full and accurate daily site diary, including any changes/variations, subcontractors' attendance, and records of work related discussions with client / designer / project team.
• Ensure that inspection and test plans are completed as required by the PMP / Specification, including a check of dimension accuracy and quality
