Job description
Overview

We are recruiting a Senior Engineer at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 Hours
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Ty Penallta

Team: Highway Engineering

This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organisation.

Salary: £42,839 - £46,142. We offer access to training and development opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • The structures team is responsible for all structural inspections, construction site supervision, design of remedial works to existing structures and new design on behalf of the Authority.
  • The postholder will undertake the control, review and monitoring of the whole life project fee, construction expenditure and financial management of budgets.
Qualifications and requirements
  • A Relevant Level 4, 5 or 6 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales (CQFW). For example, HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of technical standards/manuals, codes of practice and related to the inspection of highway structures.
  • A Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business/work purposes to travel throughout the borough to undertake inspections, contract supervision and attend meetings.
Team and development

The postholder would be joining an established competent team that includes 2 Chartered Engineers who can provide mentoring and, when ready, sponsorship to enable potential candidates to apply for various grades of membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
