Job summary

VolkerStevin, part of VolkerWessels UK, is seeking a Senior Engineer for a major infrastructure project in Chesterfield. You will own technical delivery, manage engineering controls on site and collaborate with site teams to meet safety, quality and performance standards.

The role requires a civil engineering degree or equivalent, CSCS accreditation, and hands-on experience coordinating interfaces on large infrastructure or substations.

Qualifications

• You will be a motivated and technically strong engineering professional with experience delivering major civil engineering, energy or infrastructure projects.
• You will be confident leading engineering activities on site, solving technical challenges and maintaining high standards of safety, quality and performance.
• A Degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience operating at Senior Engineer level on major infrastructure, energy or substation projects.
• Appropriate CSCS or EUSR CSCS accreditation.
• Strong knowledge of engineering controls, setting out and quality assurance processes.
• Experience using AutoCAD, digital document control systems and Microsoft 365.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to coordinate multiple technical interfaces and drive issues through to completion.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the technical delivery and engineering control of key civil engineering work packages.
• Work closely with Site Agents, Sub-Agents, supervisors and project teams to ensure construction activities are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

About you

To be successful, you should have:

• A Degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience operating at Senior Engineer level on major infrastructure, energy or substation projects.

• Strong knowledge of engineering controls, setting out and quality assurance processes.

Highly desirable experience includes:

• Working within live 132kV, 275kV or 400kV substation environments.
• SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
• NEC3/NEC4 contract awareness.
• Temporary Works Coordinator or Temporary Works Supervisor competence.
• Knowledge of lifting operations and construction logistics.
