A leading energy company is looking for a Senior Engineer to act as the Design and Technical Authority for electrical distribution networks. The ideal candidate will ensure designs comply with relevant standards and legislation while providing oversight of external designs. This role involves technical assurance and collaboration with delivery partners to support safe connections across various systems. As a Senior Engineer, you will act as the Design and Technical Authority for electrical distribution networks across operational assets and new-build projects. You will ensure designs meet all relevant legislation, ENA standards, OPN/SSE specifications, and DNO/IDNO interface requirements.
You will play a key role in the governance of network adoption, providing oversight of designs from Independent Connection Providers (ICPs), design houses and internal engineering teams. You will also support the development, maintenance and implementation of OPN/SSE design and construction standards, ensuring compliant and safe connections across LV, HV and where required EHV networks.
This role also supports OPN’s obligations as an IDNO under its Distribution Licence, including timely design reviews, stakeholder coordination and maintaining transparent, fair processes under the Competition in Connections framework.
